January 13, 2009

After a 13 hour day trip to Children's Hospital , we are finally home. The doctors were very accommodating...after having more blood drawn and then meeting with her oncologist, he set up an appointment for an hour later to meet with her surgeon...he wanted to save us an additional trip down there...long story short, we will be returning back down there tomorrow morning to have one of her lymph nodes surgically removed so that they can do further testing to determine the exact chemo treatment. She will also be doing a PET scan, but that is not yet scheduled.

A HUGE thanks to everyone for your prayers and especially Heather, Carlene's best friend, for rearranging her finals so that she could make the trip with Carlene. She really helped keep Carlene at ease and made the day more bearable.

On the horse side of things, Carlene received approval to ride at an ease...she was ecstatic about that...much more so than the surgery news =)

  1. Carlene,

Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We are so thankful for the knowledge that we serve a loving God who is walking through this with you.

We also know that Romans 8:28 & 29 are true:

"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren."

We also that with God, ALL things are possible and in our weakness, He is made strong.

May God be your strength, rock, comforter and the One to whom you turn in, during and through this trial.

    James encourages us with this:

"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."

May God use this time of trial to draw you closer to Him, to bring you joy in the midst of this trial, and to conform you to His image.

    Phillipians 4:5-7 says:

"Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand.

    Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

May you have God's peace as you walk this path set before you.

May you have a thankful and joyous spirit in the midst of this trial.

May you go to Him every moment in prayer.

May your heart and mind be guarded through Christ Jesus.

May you feel and see His hand carrying you and growing you into the woman of God He wants you to be.

We love you and are praying for you!

  3. Good grief, this is the third time I've tried to leave a comment, I hope this time works! I'm glad you have comments open though so we can say hi, even if this thing thinks I'm too incompetent to post, hehe.

I just wanted to let you know that I'm praying for you Carlene, and your whole family, all the time. I'm so glad you get to ride some, I bet that will be a nice stress relief.

Sending you love and hugs from me and the girls (well, Mark too, but of course the hugs are more of a girlie thing ;^)!!!

  4. thanks for posting the info. We have been very concerned and anxious for updates. This will be a great way of keeping current. I have found out some information on this type of lymphoma but want to hear what stage they think it is in. I have a friend who is about to start treatments for stage IIIB Hodgkin’s Lymphoma soon and he mentioned it was typically more treatable than other non-Hodgkins types so that was great news to hear. much love and hugs.
